Taking the First Professional Steps: Improving Your Personal Fitness


For those who don?t know, exercise improves your health. What a shocker! Exercise helps manage your weight and maintain healthy bodily systems. But did you know that exercise can make you more productive? The latest research shows that a regular exercise routine can make you happier, smarter, and more energetic. Personal fitness means more than working up a quick sweat. Sleeping and eating well directly improves your already productive workday!

Many people struggle to exercise regularly and cling to every excuse imaginable. What do I say? Stop lying to yourself! The best way to establish a regular routine for me involves a group of friends or family who work out together. Motivating one another, this group exerts positive peer pressure in those moments when you just don’t want to exercise. Step out of your comfort zone, give it a try, and thank me later.

When we talk about the factors that contribute to workplace performance, we rarely give much consideration to food. Battling to stay on top of emails, meetings, and deadlines demands a healthy diet. Our bodies process different foods at different rates. Pasta, bread, and cereal release their glucose quickly leading to a burst of energy followed by a slump. So next time you choose that greasy piece of pizza for a quick bite to eat, re-evaluate the situation and make a healthy choice. Build up some rocket fuel and power your day with consistent energy.


To complete the productive workday trifecta is simple: get a little extra shut eye each night. It never hurts to remember the magic number: eight. Eight hours of sleep makes us more productive throughout the day. If you?re the person that tends to get caught up in the Barbara Walter?s late night interviews, or the person that is glued to social media while lying in bed, maybe try to count the sheep backwards in your head and get your beauty rest.
